FACTS ABOUT BREASTSTROKE Breaststroke is the least efficient of the four strokes in its ability to maintain speed and power throughout its phases, in addition the water resistance increases during certain phases of breaststroke. These challenges are created by the strokes mechanics, the athletes body position, and overall strength. In order to overcome these obstacles coaches, athletes, exercise physiologist, and strength and conditioning coaches should be enlightened about various exercises that can utilized to decrease these aspects and provide the necessary forces to propel the athlete in the forward direction throughout the stroke.
